Dr. Yuanlin Piao, Ph.D.

Professor and Director of Chinese and Korean Language Programs

Dr. Yuanlin Piao obtained his Ph.D. and Medical Doctorate degrees from the Peking Union Medical College (China) and his Masters level degree in Clinical Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine from the Norman Bethune University of Medical Science (China). He completed his Bachelor level Medical degree training with a major in Chinese Medicine from Changchun University of Chinese Medicine (China). 

Professionally, Dr. Piao has been engaged within academia and Clinical Practice for over 20 years, with a focus on the Clinical Integration of Chinese Medicine and Western Medicine. Prior to joining VUIM, Dr. Piao served as a chief physician, professor, postgraduate advisor, and Deputy Director in the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. Clinically, he holds expertise in the integrative treatment (TCM+WM) of chronic complications related to diabetes, internal diseases, and male diseases, as well as the adjuvant, Traditional Chinese Medicine based treatment of Cancer. 

To date, Dr. Piao has authored four textbooks on Chinese Medicine, and he has won multiple outstanding teacher and clinical educator awards at Peking Union Medical College Hospital. He loves being of service and making himself available to his students – from reviewing basic theory to discussing clinical cases and professional aspirations, post graduation.

Outside of the classroom and clinic, Dr. Piao serves as a Council Member, Committee Member, or Executive Director of a number of professional and research based organizations. such as the World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies, the Chinese Ethnic Medicine Association, the Beijing Association of Integrative Medicine, and the Andrology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association.
